AdminSock provides a TCP/IP socket interface between enterprise security administration software and the ClearPath MCP security system.

Key Features

  • ClearPath MCP agent for an enterprise-wide security server
  • Two modes of operation - Interactive and Silent
  • Userdatafile and COMS Cfile maintenance
  • Reconciliation function
  • Validation function
  • English-text commands

ClearPath MCP Agent

AdminSock acts as a security agent for the ClearPath MCP environment, allowing installations with multiple heterogeneous platforms to have enterprise-wide security administration from a single central server.

Operation Modes

AdminSock may run in one of two modes, Interactive and Silent. Regardless of the mode of operation, AdminSock receives commands from an input file.

Interactive mode

This is the default mode of operation and the responses (i.e. the success or failure of commands) are displayed on screen in AdminSock's window (see example below).

This mode is useful in testing as mistakes in the input file can be easily identified, rectified and re-input.

Silent mode

This mode is more appropriate for normal batch running. AdminSock does not display a window and terminates once processing of the input file is complete.

Userdatafile and COMS Cfile Maintenance

AdminSock provides a simple method of updating user entries in the Userdatafile and COMS Cfile on a UNISYS ClearPath MCP system via a batch file input on a Microsoft Windows based system. Entries may be created, modified, renamed and deleted. In addition, a list of all defined users may be retrieved and all (or individual) entries may be enquired upon.

Reconciliation Function

The Inquire command allows information to be returned to the administration server in order to populate the central database, or track individual changes in the ClearPath MCP environment.

Validation Function

The Validate command allows userid/password and accesscode/password validation to be requested from the administration server.

English-text Commands

AdminSock receives commands from an input file. English-text commands such as the following examples may be specified:

Create usercode USER1 from PROFILE6
Create accesscode AC200 like AC100
Rename profile NEWPROF as PROFILE7
Delete usercode USER3
Inquire accesscode AC200
