UserSock provides a TCP/IP socket interface to client applications in a client-server environment.

Access Control

Users using client-server applications bypass the traditional MARC sign-on procedure. UserSock allows an installation to implement access controls for such users.

UserSock Functions

User Validation - a user is required to supply logon details (e.g. usercode, usercode password, accesscode and accesscode password). The details supplied are checked against the Userdatafile entry in the ClearPath MCP environment. If the details are correct, the logon is accepted.
Password Aging Information - for password aged usercodes and accesscodes, this function returns password-aging details about the user.
Password Generation - this function takes advantage of SAFE & SECURE's password generation facilities.
Password Change - this function allows a user to change his or her password.

Sample Code

The way in which UserSock's functions are integrated with an organisation's client-server application is dependent on the organisation's development staff. Locum provides sample code to ease the integration process.
